Hi, I'm the author of KLE (Kindness Learning Enlightenment), and you probably have known my name - Wang Shui - which in Chinese means a very powerful acid solution that can even resolve gold - sounds cool, uh?
Yes, I wrote this program, and I wrote it piece by piece, with fun. I know we are all living in a highly industrialized commercial world and my way of developing software is very much far from an efficient one. But you know, as the great Niobe (never heard of her? You need be more careful when watching "The Matrix" next time) once said, "Something's never gonna change," - such as one's lust for freedom.
As a teacher on computer technology, I know the rules and regulations of writing a commercial software, but I just write it piece by piece, fix in some new ideas now and then, and publish the new version with bugs that I had to hack later at night. You know, it's kinda fun. "Everything I do, I do it for fun" -that's my motto - well, not everything, but at least this one.
We are all victims of rules and regulations, seldom could we have some real fun; but why not this time when we can really do something right and do it with delight? The English language itself is not our goal, 'coz what we're seeking is the fertile fruits of one of the greatest culture the world can offer us. This is the main idea of the initiation of KLE, and the reason of the enthusiasm of all the hard-working.
Movie is one of the most important cultural phenomena of the modern society, whatever your race, whatever your age, wherever you live, you can always find a movie that can touch the right chord, and that is just where KLE begins: Learn The Language While You Can Feel It.
Maybe you would ask: Why it's "Kindness Learning Environment" (KLE)? Why not just "Movie Language Learning System" (MLLS)? Well, part of the reason is that I am a Buddhist, and I believe that KINDNESS is a key element of understanding things (and KLE can also be called as Kindness Learning Enlightenment, a Zen-like name), especially for memorizing words and expressions when watching a movie. Another reason is that I admire KDE very much, which is a very powerful window system for Linux/Unix (as powerful as the Microsoft Windows, but it's free and open-sourced), and I want my project has a similar name to it.
Sometimes when I look back all the way I have passed through since 1967 when I was born - well, I'd rather say "since 1989", when I got my first job (and that is still my job now, damn), because it's easier for me to remember things - I'm always wanting to do something big, something extraordinary, something unique. I think this one is it - well, it's not much "extraordinary", nor as big as the "Theory of Relativity", nor could it make me rich overnight - just a piece of job I'd like to do for nothing, a small program for people enjoying movies and learning English at the same time, but as far as I know, it's unique: I created the idea.
As you can see, I'm no moron (well, at least you are not a moron, and you will not read words written by a moron, that's why I'm sure I'm not a moron, because you are reading my words), but I'm no genius, either. I'm just another normal guy like most of the others. Sometime I even ask myself: how could I survive this fiercely dog-eat-dog world? But most of the time I just get lost in my job, my family, my friends, and cliches of all other mortal things. But when I am alone at night, and when it's hard to sleep, I ask myself: What have I accomplished? As an individual, what's my purpose? That's why I like the movie "The Matrix" very much.
When Neo said "I can control my own life", I believed him. I believe you can, too. So drop your "red-bible" or other test-coping shit, free your mind and start using KLE -- it's your life, and you have the right to understand and enjoy, and you will not allow anyone to spoil it.
Have fun!
